If outdoor activities are more your thing, the Hyde Park neighborhood is home to the oldest golf course in Texas.  Hancock Golf Course is a nine-hole public course right in the middle of the community.

Many of the residences hang out at Shipe Park where the amenities include swimming, basketball, tennis, jogging, a playground for the kids. Shipe Park is a favorite place for people to walk dogs or have a picnic.

When it’s time to do some grocery shopping, Central Market on Lamar is as good as it gets.  You can find some of the best selections of produce, fresh baked goods, and meat.  Voted the best grocery store in Austin you can grab a made to order food that is restaurant quality.

If you are looking for things to do on a night out you can check out The Hyde Park Theatre or grab a bite to eat at Hyde Park Bar & Grill which has been featured to have the top 20 fries in the USA.

Your Commute

One of the main reasons people love Hyde Park is the location.  You can get to just about anywhere in the city in a reasonable period. If you need to travel to downtown Austin, you can be there in 7-10 minutes during non-rush hour traffic.  During rush hour it can take 9-20 minutes.  If you need to get to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, you can expect a 15-minute drive during non-peak times and 15-28 during rush hour.  The central location is what makes Hyde Park real estate so desirable.

Hyde Park Schools

The students in Hyde Park are apart of the Austin ISD.  The three elementary schools are Ridgetop Elementary, Lee Elementary, and Davis Elementary.  For middle school students, they might be assigned to Kealing Middle School or O’Henry Middle School.  There are two high schools which include Austin High School and McCallum High School.  Private schools are also a popular option for many of Austin’s parents, and some send their children to Kirby Hall School or Odyssey School.  When searching Hyde Park homes for sale knowing what schools your kids will attend are essential.  It's alway a good idea to check with the Austin ISD to get clarification before purchasing.
